Orthopedics is a medical specialty that aims to assess and treat any health problems affecting the musculoskeletal system, which includes bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and any other tissues that are important to support the body and help it move and stabilize.

What services does the orthopedics department provide?

The orthopedics branch offers many services, it is useful for all individuals suffering from problems of the musculoskeletal system that may occur from birth, as a result of injury, or advancing age.

Among the common diseases treated by this specialty are both of the following:

  • Joint injuries and problems such as arthritis and joint pain, including cases that require joint replacement surgeries like knee or hip replacement due to joint inflammation.
  • Bone fractures and cases that require internal fixation surgery using metal implants or surgeries to repair crushed or complex fractures.
  • Injuries to tendons, ligaments, and tissues around the shoulder, knee, or hip, including repair surgeries of damaged ligaments, tendons, or soft tissues using endoscopy or open surgery.
  • Neck or back pain that may require spinal surgeries for vertebrae stabilization or disc removal
  • Nerve compression issues, especially complex spinal cord syndromes that may require nerve release surgery
  • Some congenital or birth-related issues such as flatfoot, hip dislocation, and their treatment surgically or non-surgically.
  • Infections or deformities of the hand and foot joints, or complications caused by inflammatory arthritis.
