Clinical Competencies & Procedures

1.Arrhythmia Evaluation and Management

  • Detailed history and physical examination.
  • Review of medications, comorbidities, and prior cardiac interventions.
  • Specialized assessment of palpitations, tachycardia (fast heart rate), bradycardia     (slow heart rate), dizziness, and syncope (fainting).
  • Diagnosis and management of Cardiac Syncope. (Fainting or passing out).
  • Diagnosis, management and advanced treatment for heart failure patients.
  • ECG interpretation, Holter monitoring, and event monitoring.
  • Diagnosis and management of Channelopathies (Long/Short QT Syndrome, Brugada     Syndrome, ARVC, CPVT).
  • Diagnosis, management and risk stratification of Wolf Parkinson white syndrome (WPW).
  • Risk assessment of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM).
  • Risk stratification and evaluation for sudden cardiac death (SCD) in high-risk     individuals.
  • Risk assessment of athletes before participating in competitive sports.
  • Genetic counselling for inherited arrhythmia syndromes.
  • Expert in counselling about risk factors provoking heart rhythm disorders     including Hypertension, Diabetes, Smoking , Obesity and Obstructive sleep     apnea syndrome (OSA).

Long-term management of

  1. Atrial flutter.
  2. Supraventricular Tachycardia {SVT-AVNRT, AVRT, Atrial tachycardias (AT)}

Ventricular Tachycardia (VT).

  1. Idiopathic Ventricular Tachycardia / Ventricular Fibrillation. (Idiopathic VT / VF).

2.Device Clinics (CIED Management)

In-person monitoring of cardiacimplantable electronic devices (CIEDs), including:

  • Permanent Pacemakers, (PPM)
  • Implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs),
  • Biventricular pacemakers (Cardiac resynchronization therapies – CRT-P, CRT-D),
  • Implantable Loop Recorders. (ILR)

This includes:

  • Interrogation and reprogramming of devices.
  • Monitoring for lead malfunctions or battery depletion.
  • Pre-operative device interrogation and mode change before and after procedures.

3. Performing Diagnostic Testing,interpreting and Reporting

  • 12-lead ECG interpretation.
  • Exercise Stress test to evaluate exercise induce arrhythmias, WPW syndrome, Chronotropic     incompetence, Syncope, Program rate adaptive pacemakers.
  • Transthoracic Echocardiography.
  • 24–48 hours, extended up to 7 days of Holter monitoring.
  • Implantable Loop Recorders. (ILR)
  • Head-up tilt table test (HUTT) for syncope.
  • Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (CMR) for diagnosis of specific cardiac     conditions causing arrhythmia.

Pre- and post-procedure care:Pre-procedural planning and post-procedural follow-up for catheter ablation anddevice implantation.

4.Anticoagulation Management

Managing stroke preventionstrategies, especially for patients with atrial fibrillation, valvular heartdiseases, prosthetic heart valves.

5.Common Conditions Managed

  • Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) & Atrial Flutter: Rhythm and rate control     strategies.
  • Bradycardia/Heart Block: Pacing management.
  • Ventricular  Ectopy and Tachycardia: Management of premature ventricular contractions     (PVCs)
  • Inherited  Arrhythmia Syndromes: Long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, Arrhythmogenic Right     Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC), and other Channelopathies.
